Do any of the following situations sound familiar to you?

You desperately want to lose weight, but you've tried so many different diets and failed over the years that you've become discouraged.

Let's face it, most diets aren't easy to follow. They are designed to help you lose weight, not for your personal comfort. And once you stop the diet, the weight comes right back, and then some. So you find yourself in a worse situation than before.

No matter what diet you try—from the Cabbage Soup Diet to the Master Cleanser to low-fat diets like the Atkins Diet—one of two things usually happens:

- You lose weight, as well as your mental health, because life becomes an unbearable chore of boring and insufficient food.

- You don't lose weight because you simply can't stick to this diet.

In both cases, you feel bad, discouraged, maybe even like a failure. But, rest assured, losing weight is possible. In fact, here are five simple but sound tips that, if followed, could easily help you lose five pounds or more per week!

Tip #1: Cut back on carbs! Reducing your carb intake, especially white carbs (white bread, potatoes, etc.), and instead eating high-quality lean proteins (chicken, fish, etc.) is a great way to lose a few pounds quickly. But don’t cut out carbs completely! You should continue to eat fibrous carbohydrates, such as berries, spinach and apples.

Tip #2: Stop Eating Processed Foods! Instead, eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Often, people who are used to eating a lot of junk food find that they can eat a larger amount of delicious fruits, vegetables, and whole grains without gaining weight.

Tip #3: Reduce your sugar intake! In particular, watch the amount of soda or fruit juice you consume. The sugar in these drinks can add up quickly and these drinks are not filling. You should also be wary of "fat-free" products. Sugar is often used to replace the flavor that is lost when fat is removed. You should also be careful about the amount of sugar you add to coffee and tea.

Tip #4 – Drink more water! Water naturally helps suppress appetite and drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will help you lose weight and burn fat. On the other hand, if you don't drink enough water each day, your body risks storing water and fats that you don't need. To determine how much water you should drink, multiply your body weight by 0.66 to get the number of ounces needed per day.

Tip #5: Exercise more often! The healthiest way to lose weight is to exercise. A person who increases the amount of exercise they do, while maintaining the same diet and calorie intake, will almost certainly lose weight. Additionally, excessive sweating from cardio activity, such as running, walking, and using aerobic gym machines, will help you deflate and lose pounds and inches quickly.

But be careful, if you haven't exercised for a long time, consult your doctor first and start any exercise program slowly.
